While Will and I were engaged, we were looking for a house to call our own. One day Will said “Well, dad has this old house on one of the farms, but you probably won’t like it.”
I immediately told him to let me see it. I walked in, and fell in love with the 1930 farmhouse. The charm, the detail, the character. No one had lived there for a long time, so it needed a ton of work. We called a contractor out and got the ball rolling. It took about a year, but we moved into the farmhouse in February 2019.
That little two bedroom/one bath home is where my love for design really started to come alive. I had a blast sourcing items for our home and slowly started doing it for other people here and there. I didn’t start Little Yellow Door until after we moved into that house. I named the business after the front door of our home. The door was original to the home, but we painted it yellow.
We have lived a lot of life in the house with the little yellow door. Brought home 2 babies and multiple cats, dogs and even chickens.
Enjoy these photos and let me know if you have any questions about décor sources! It's mainly all thrifted, but there are some new pieces here and there!
